Dual-labeled biofilms (P_sarA-RFP, P_agrP3-GFP) of (A) agr positive strain AH596 and (B) agr mutant strain AH871 were grown for 2 days in TSBg. Glucose was removed from the growth media and the biofilm was grown an additional 2 days. Biofilm integrity and RFP/GFP fluorescence were monitored with CLSM. CLSM image reconstructions are representative of three separate experiments and each side of a grid square represents 20 µM.
