The animals were injected i.v. (arrow) with either LPS (10 μg kg−1; A) or saline (1.0 ml kg−1; B). The initial colonic temperature (Tc) of OLETF and LE rats in the LPS experiment was 38.4 ± 0.2 and 38.6 ± 0.1 °C, respectively. The initial Tc of OLETF and LE rats in the saline experiment was 38.3 ± 0.2 and 38.6 ± 0.1 °C, respectively.
