A, rectification of the macroscopic I-V relationship, quantified as the rectification ratio as described in Methods, is significantly increased following mutagenesis of R334 (*P < 0.05; **P < 0.001). Furthermore, this rectification acquires pH dependence in R334H not seen in wild-type. Mean of data from 3–5 patches.
