The neuron as a component. In the leaky integrate-and-fire model, input spikes are multiplied by their respective synaptic weights, summed and integrated over time. If the integral exceeds a threshold, the neuron fires and the integration restarts. The output spike may be delayed to model the propagation time along the axon.
