Blood haemoglobin concentration in the treatment groups, and in normal non-tumour-bearing mice. A blood sample was taken by carrying out a cardiac puncture while mice were anaesthetised. Blood was collected in a microcuvette, and haemoglobin measured using an automatic Hemocue Analyser. ^*P<0.05 vs other groups (note that Hb<10 g dl⁻¹ is indicative of anaemia). Data are expressed as mean±s.e.m.
