The natural shorthorn sculpin SS-8 and winter-flounder HPLC-6 isoforms are shown along with the synthetic peptides AKAAK, LKAAK, poly-AK (Zhang and Laursen 1999), and 43-mer (Wierzbicki et al. 2000). Red residues indicate positions of inactivating steric mutations, green represent positions unaffected by these mutations (ibid; Baardsnes et al. 1999). Thr and Lys residues are shown in light pink and light blue, respectively. The putative Ala-rich binding face is indicated by the dark-blue rectangle.
