Matrigel® invasion by the human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines HRT-18 and HT-29. HRT-18 cells are more invasive than HT-29 cells. Cells were cultured on transwell cell culture inserts coated with Matrigel®. After 72 h cells were treated with MTT, and optical density was measured after disolving the cells with DMSO. Optical density data of invasive cells were converted into cell numbers on the basis of a standard curve for each cell line. Data of one out of three experiments are expressed as mean and standard deviation. *Significant (P<0.05) compared to HRT-18 cells.
