Experiments were essentially performed as described in Fig. 1. In A, average I_SC values are shown for every hour of the experiment. After an initial equilibration period of about 1 h, matched colon tissue preparations were exposed at time zero (0 h) to 3 nm aldosterone (•) or to vehicle control (○) added both to the apical and basolateral bath solution.
