Relationship between fibulin-1 processing and ER status. Levels of 100 kDa fibulin-1 and the 50 kDa processed fragment were quantified by densitometric analysis of immunoblots. The resulting arbitrary units were used to determine the extent of fibulin-1 processing (expressed as the ratio of the 50 kDa fragment to the full-length polypeptide). Bar, median value. P-values were determined according to the nonparametric Mann–Whitney U-test for unpaired values. The extent of fibulin-1 processing (50 /100 kDa) was significantly higher in ERα-positive than in ERα-negative breast carcinomas (P<0.05).
