The sex association was pre-adjusted for age in the five age-groups, as well as for city. The unstratified effect of sex on disability-free life expectancy was 1.08 (95% CI 1.06 – 1.11) p < 0.001).

Each city was compared with the regional average (defined as the mean of all seven cities); pre-adjusted for age.
