Ectopic overexpression of CCR4 reduces cell size. Coulter counter plots of mid-log-phase cells from YEPRG grown cultures indicate that there is no size difference between untransformed wild-type cells and wild-type cells transformed with control plasmid (e.g., an empty GAL-promoter construct) (A). In contrast, overexpression of CCR4 results in small cells (B). Northern analysis was used to confirm CCR4 overexpression (see Figure 5A). Similar results were obtained with several independent galactose-inducible CCR4 constructs and found to be comparable to effects seen with GAL-CLN1 constructs (C).
