Permeation of drug-sensitive and -resistant TS by fluorescent allocrites of P-gp. TS^WT (panels A–C) and TS^Adr (panels D–F) were incubated in the presence of 2.5 μM BODIPY-taxol (A, D), 5 μM rhodamine-123 (B, E) or 5 μM calcein-AM (C, F) for 60 min. Optical sectioning of TS (d=300–400 μM) was achieved by confocal fluorescence microscopy and the images shown were taken at a depth of 60 μM from the tissue periphery. The white bars correspond to 100 μM.
