Induction of cell-cycle arrest by gefitinib. After 48 h of incubation with gefitinib, CM cells (A) and BON cells (B) dose-dependently accumulated in the G0/G1-phase of the cell cycle. Accordingly, the proportion of cells in the S and G2/M phases decreased in either cell line. In contrast, no significant changes of cell-cycle phases were observed in STC-1 cells (C). Means±s.e.m. of four independent experiments for each cell line are shown. The difference of the proportion of cells in a particular phase of the cell cycle vs control was significant for 7.5–10 μM gefitinib in CM cells and for 10–50 μM gefitinib in BON cells. * Statistical significance (P<0.05).
