Cytokine gene expression in total granuloma cells from M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis or vaccine inoculation sites at 7 days postinoculation. Total granuloma cells were isolated from H&E-stained cryosections using LCM, and cytokine gene expression was determined by qRT-PCR. β-Actin was used as an internal control for the assay and was expressed at similar levels in both tissues. Target gene mRNA expression was normalized to β-actin mRNA within the same tissue. Means ± standard errors of the means of results in arbitrary units are shown. Data were generated from two M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis-inoculated animals and four vaccinated animals.
