A positive correlation between the affinity of EBNA1 for its origin-binding sites with both replicative efficiencies is observed in the presence of TRF2-half-binding sites but not in their absence. Derivatives of wtDS lacking the TRF2-half-binding sites were not constructed for the present study, and hence the replicative efficiencies were not determined in these assays.
