Fipronil degrades photochemically (hν) under environmental conditions to the desulfinyl derivative as the major photoproduct and the detrifluoromethylsulfinyl, sulfone, and sulfide compounds as minor products. Metabolism of fipronil in mice yields the sulfone but not the other derivatives.
