Spin state energies (⁶A₁, ⁴T₁, and ²T₂) obtained for green, quasi-native, and native CPO from the EPR simulations of Figs. 3 and 4, using the three-term crystal field model described in the text. Only the lower-lying states are shown. In the simulations, the Racah parameters B = 1015 cm⁻¹ and C = 4800 cm⁻¹ and the spin-orbit coupling constant ζ = 430 cm⁻¹ were kept fixed, while all other parameters were allowed to vary. For quasi-native and native CPO, the lowest-lying ²T₂ states contain admixtures of the higher-lying quartet (⁴T₁) and sextet (⁶A₁) states. The lowest-lying state of green CPO is a pure doublet (²T₂).
