Propagation of a wave of ATP release from the retina. ATP release was monitored via the luciferin–luciferase bioluminescence assay. ATP concentration at the retinal surface is indicated by the pseudocolor scale at thebottom. The ATP release wave was evoked by a mechanical stimulus identical to that used to elicit Ca2+waves.
