Inhibition of PI 3-kinase and other MAP kinases does not decrease ATP in human alveolar macrophages. Human alveolar macrophages were cultured (1×106/ml in 96 well tissue culture plates) with and without various inhibitors: MEK inhibitor U0126 (20 uM), PI 3-kinase inhibitor LY294002 (20 uM), p38 inhibitor SB203580 (10 uM) and JNK inhibitor SP600125 (20 uM). Cells were cultured for 24 hours and then lysed and ATP levels determined as described. The data represents three separate experiments. Significance was determined using a nonpaired t test.
