Immunohistochemical analysis of gastric tumours. Representative images of tumour sections stained with haematoxylin and eosin (row 1; × 200 magnification), stained immunohistochemically for CD31 (row 2; × 200) or for PCNA (row 3; × 200), or stained for apoptosis by TUNEL (row 4, × 200). Weekly ZD6126 caused a significant decrease in the number of PCNA+ proliferating cells and an increase in TUNEL-positive apoptotic cells; daily ZD6126 decreased microvessel density (as shown by staining with antibodies against CD31), decreased proliferating cells (PCNA) and increased apoptotic cells (TUNEL).
