Between these laminae, a thick layer of type I collagen fibrils is observed (asterisks). In the SC plasma membrane, the hemidesmosome-like junctions are detached from the Bl (white arrowheads) and surrounded by a thin layer of amorphous matrix (inset; arrowhead). The SC nucleus is dislocated from the basal region and exhibits two portions: (A) an electron dense portion containing fragmented chromatin irregularly distributed and (B) an electron lucent portion with a thin granular chromatin homogeneously distributed.
