Time course of cell death and PR-1 induction during bacteria-triggered HR. (A) Induction of HR cell death in transgenic antisense-APX plants compared with control plants. Bacteria (OD₆₀₀ = 0.1) was infiltrated into leaves of control and antisense plants. Leaves were sampled at different times and analyzed for the induction of HR cell death. (B) Induction of PR-1 mRNA in transgenic and control plants infected with bacteria. Leaf samples were obtained as described in A and analyzed for the level of PR-1 mRNA.
