The median duration of territoriality is 3 weeks in the fluctuating condition (n = 52) and 9.5 weeks in the stable condition (n = 14). In contrast, the median time spent as nonterritorial is only 4 weeks in the fluctuating condition (n = 55), compared with 7 weeks under stable conditions (n = 15).
