Bacteria were grown in polystyrene microtiter plates containing the indicated media (open bars) or media supplemented with 1% (wt/vol) glucose (black bars) or sucrose (gray bars). Bacterial growth and biofilm formation were measured after a 16-h incubation under aerobic and anaerobic conditions as described in Materials and Methods.
