Transient transfection of a MyD88 DN plasmid in Raw 264.7 cells reduces the uptake of B. burgdorferi. Raw 264.7 cells were transiently transfected with pCDNA3-GFP control or MyD88 DN plasmid. After 24 h, the cells were incubated with B. burgdorferi (Bb) for 60 min. Fixed cells were incubated with different fluorescently labeled antibodies as described in the legend to Fig. 1 and then visualized by fluorescence microscopy. Cells containing internalized B. burgdorferi particles at 1 h postinfection were counted and expressed as a percentage of the total number of cells examined.
