Effect of leptin treatment on differentiation of cultured adult hippocampal stem/progenitor cells. Cells that were treated with leptin (1 nm) for 48 h and labeled with BrdUrd (10 μm) in the last 4 h of incubation were allowed to differentiate for 8 days before fixation for immunohistochemical processing. A, representative microscopic images showing that BrdUrd-labeled cells differentiated into neuronal (TuJ1-positive in red) or glial (GFAP-positive in green) cells.
