Illustration of the specific signal amplification in HP electrochemical detection. When no target bound to the probe, the hairpin was closed. HRP could not form an effective complex and no signal was observed. After hybridization with target, the hairpin opened up and the HRP complex was formed. TMB regenerated the reactive HRP, thus amplifying the current signal.
