Plants with a null mutation in AtMES17 hydrolyze exogenously supplied MeIAA at a much lower efficiency than wild-type plants. Wild-type and mes17-1 seedlings were incubated in a 0.5 μm solution of [14C]MeIAA for 30 min. [14C]MeIAA absorbed by the plants was extracted and analyzed by radio-TLC. The position of an authentic MeIAA standard is also shown.
