The C28G/C271A cysteine-less OxlT was parent to all variants except the K355R mutant, which was in wild-type background. Data are mean values ± SE from 4–7 separate trials. Where indicated, MTSEA was used at 1 mM (as in Fig. 1AB).

Summary data for the R272K mutant were noted earlier (17); analysis of the K355R mutant has been reported (16).

Not detectable on extended assay (as in Fig. 1B) (< 0.01% parental specific activity)
