Overview of the structure. hTDGcat binds the DNA in a 2:1 complex: one subunit at the abasic site (product complex) and the other at an undamaged site (nonspecific complex). DNA shown includes a full 22-bp duplex and part of the adjacent duplex joined by 3′ A/T overhangs (blue arrow, see Fig. 2A). The secondary structure is also shown with the amino acid sequence in Fig. S3. Overall, the two subunits are highly similar (rms deviation of 0.8 Å for Cα positions).
