Table 2. Glucose changes the levels of various lipids in INS-1 832/13 cells.

Cells were incubated with 16.7 mM glucose and other conditions, including non-stimulatory conditions as controls, for 30 min after which metabolism was stopped and lipids were analyzed as described under Experimental Procedures. Only the results for glucose are shown and are the mean ± SE of six replicate incubations for all except individual PC, PS, PI and PE, where N = 3. Results are shown as the percentage increase or decrease versus the no addition control value. Statistical significance was calculated with the raw data. Large percentage changes that are not significant are likely associated with large SEs and/or very low levels of the lipids. Complete sets of data with lipid contents of the unstimulated control and percent changes can be viewed in Supplemental Tables 18 at the BBA website. ND indicates not detected.
