Cyt cox is reduced to form Cyt cred by the electrochemical reduction, as shown by the dotted black arrow (Eq. 2 in the text). Electrons travel in the direction opposite from Cyt cred to oxygen catalyzed by the enzyme, thereby regenerating cyt cox (Eq. 1).
