After alkaline methanolysis of MBM the upper biodiesel phase was separated and analyzed by GC-MS. GC-MS results show the alkaline methanolysis reaction produced various fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) which are typical components of biodiesel (see Table 1 for FAME composition). The two most abundant fatty acid methyl esters were analyzed quantitatively by using internal deuterated standards and calibration curve (Table 2).
