Chemical ionization mass spectra of methyl 17-hydroxylinolenate prepared by transesterification of volicitin from oral secretion of caterpillars fed 6 h on unlabeled corn seedlings (A), 6 h on 13C-labeled corn seedlings (B), and 12 h on 13C-labeled seedlings with unlabeled linolenic acid added to the leaves after 6 h (C). The 291 ion resulted from loss of water from the molecular ion (M + 1 − 18)+.
