B1 and B2 represent the two bases whose ionization are observed in the kcat pH profile. H:A is likely to be Arg 80 based on the structure of the E-Zn2+-α-KIV structure (22) and may be the additional ionizable group observed in the kcat/Km α-KIV pH profile. The acidic ionizable groups observed in the kcat/Km AcCoA pH profile cannot be assigned since no structural data on an AcCoA complex exist.
