Table 1. Criteria for case definition of Henoch-Schönlein purpura.

Palpable purpuric eruption and at least one additional criteria are required for diagnosis.

Arthritis or arthralgia
Renal involvement (hematuria or proteinuria)
A biopsy showing predominant IgA deposition, mostly in the arterioles, capillaries, and venules of the skin, GI tract, or kidneys
