Table 1.

Summary of the number of units recorded and number of probe placements in each field for each animal. The units included in this table satisfied the response criteria for either the azimuth or the elevation series (see Methods). Of the 19 cats used, 6 were female and 13 were male. Female cats had been trained to perform a non-spatial auditory discrimination for food reward and, in some cases, had been involved in studies of chronic physiological recording. A1 and PAF units from cats 0101–0405 have been described previously (Stecker et al. 2003, 2005a). All of the AAF units and all units from cats 0408–0412 are new to this report.
