liz1Δ cells maintain a 2C DNA content in hydroxyurea. Wild-type (TE271) and liz1Δ (TE879) cells were fixed and stained with propidium iodide, for analysis of DNA content by FACS, at times after the addition of 10 mM hydroxyurea. It should be noted that the apparent upward drift of the 1C and 2C peaks over time is due to a common FACS artifact of both wild-type and mutant S. pombe cells. As the cell length increases, the apparent DNA content also appears to slightly increase.
