Analysis for potential transcriptional activation of the MMP-9 wild-type promoter by TGF-β1. ND-1, Tsu-Pr1, and DU145 cells transiently transfected with an MMP-9 wild-type (670 bp) human promoter CAT construct (MMP-9 CAT) were stimulated with Ha-ras cotransfection (for ND-1 and Tsu-Pr1 cells), exogenous TGF-β1 (for ND-1, Tsu-Pr1 and DU145 cells), or TGF-β1 cDNA cotransfection (ND-1 cells) and then assayed for CAT activity. Data are normalized to the untreated control values, which are equal to 1.0.
