Effect of varying the lipid:protein ratio on apoA-I DMPC complex formation. DMPC LUV:apoA-I mixtures were prepared with 1.8 mM DMPC at lipid:protein mole ratios of 50 (dashed line), 100 (thin line), and 200 (thick line) and incubated overnight at 23°C. The mixtures were then analyzed by gel filtration on a Superdex 200 column using an in-line detector to measure absorbance at 280 nm, that detects both protein absorbance as well as light scattering due to LUVs.
