Sugar concentrations (wt/vol) were as follows: glucose, 0.5%; galactose, 0.5%; glucose-galactose, 0.25% of each sugar.
The percentage of lysis was calculated using the following formula: 100 × OD600 value at 96 h/maximum OD600 value. All samples were taken from two independent cultures, and each sample was measured twice to determine the OD600 and PepX activity. Standard deviations are given in parentheses. AU, arbitrary units.
