Bactericidal assay for determination of the lytic effects of serum complement on wild-type RC1 (circles), mutant 811 (triangles) and 811-rev. (squares). Bacteria were incubated with 40% normal human serum at 37°C. Aliquots of the reactions were plated at different time intervals for determination of viable bacteria.
