1H NMR spectra of poly-γ-glutamic acid (a) and its synthesized glucosamine conjugate (b). The ratio of the incorporated carbohydrate is estimated by integration of the glutamic and glucose protons. In this particular case, the ratio of the glucosamine-conjugated and non-glucosamine-conjugated glutamic segments is about 1:1.
