Effect of increasing percent bleach on the thermal denaturation of rhodopsin in native disk membranes. Dark-adapted disk membranes in 10 mM KPO4−, pH 7.0, were exposed to successive flashes of white light to generate 0–55% bleach. Thermograms were acquired from 0 to 85°C at a scan rate of 1.5°/min. Depicted are thermograms of 0% (solid curve), 22% (dashed curve), and 55% (dotted curve) bleached native disk membranes.
