P < .01.

In analyses assessing the main effects of parental concern or parental restriction, weight status was also entered into the model to assess the effect of concern/restriction, independent of weight status.

In all interaction analyses, weight status and concern/restriction were also entered into the model.

§

The WHP × maternal restriction interaction for physical ability resulted in the following regression equation: perceived physical ability = 3.59 − .001 (WHP) − .017 (restriction) − .003 (interaction).

||

The WHP × maternal restriction interaction for cognitive ability resulted in the following regression equation: perceived cognitive ability = 3.89 − .004 (WHP) − .033 (restriction) − .003 (interaction).
