GAIP is associated with intracellular membranes in rat liver. Fractions CV1, CV2, and RM (see Figure 7) were pooled and treated with WGA to remove PM. Bound (PM) and nonbound (intracellular membranes) fractions were assayed for 5′-nucleotidase activity (A) or solubilized and immunoblotted for GAIP (B). Most (85%) of the 5′-nucleotidase activity is found in the bound fraction (B), whereas GAIP is found only in the nonbound fraction (NB). Data are means ± SD from three independent WGA treatments.
