Denitration of heterologously expressed Cav1.2b (A) and colonic smooth muscle calcium channel (B). Treatment of HEK293 transfected cells and mouse colonic smooth muscle with ONOO− resulted in nitration of calcium channels. Nitrotyrosine was significantly reduced by treatment with cell lysates from RAW264.7 cells. The presence of calcium channels were confirmed with anti-Cav1.2 antibodies.
