Shmt1 null mice are fertile and do not demonstrate maternal lethality

Shmt1^–/– mice were intercrossed and their progeny genotyped to determine fertility and litter size. Differences between observed and expected sex distributions were analyzed by χ² analysis. p values ≤0.05 were considered significantly different. The number of litters observed was 13. The mean litter size (mean ± S.E.) was 6.9 ± 0.5. p value, observed versus expected sex distribution was not significant.
