Distribution of percent sequence coverage of identified proteins by identified tryptic peptides. It is rare that peptides from the entire protein sequence are identified by mass spectrometry; usually only a fraction of the protein’s peptides are recovered. Increased sequence coverage of a protein by its identified peptides increases confidence of the protein identification.
