Summary of results from nine sensory neurons that had been pretreated with a blocking antibody to p75NTR for 1 h. Focal application of 50 ng ml−1 BDNF (open bars) failed to increase AP firing. In a parallel series of experiments, sensory neurons that were not treated with blocking antibody were sensitized by BDNF (grey bars).
